UDA steps up grassroots mobilisation in Busia ahead of 2027 elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has intensified grassroots mobilisation and membership recruitment in Busia County as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The party has launched recruitment drives targeting residents at ward and village levels, with local officials engaging communities to expand UDA’s presence across the county.

Speaking in Busia Town after meeting party delegates, Busia County UDA chair Mourice Chetambe said the party was focused on strengthening its grassroots structures ahead of the elections.

Chetambe said local leaders and party supporters were being encouraged to reach out to residents and recruit new members as UDA seeks to build a stronger network across the county.

He said the mobilisation efforts would also help the party advance its agenda and prepare its supporters for the 2027 polls.

UDA targets opposition stronghold

UDA officials said the grassroots campaign is part of efforts to expand the party’s support in Busia, which has traditionally been considered an opposition stronghold.

The party has urged residents to join its ranks and participate in its activities as political competition intensifies ahead of the next General Election.

The mobilisation comes as political parties across the country increase their grassroots activities, with leaders seeking to consolidate support and establish stronger networks ahead of 2027.
