Airtel Money launches Bizna Wallet to simplify SME financial management

Date:

Airtel Money Kenya has launched Bizna Wallet, a dedicated digital wallet aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses better manage their finances through a secure and simplified platform.

The new product targets entrepreneurs such as kiosk owners, market traders, boda boda riders, matatu operators and other micro-business owners by enabling them to separate business income from personal finances while improving day-to-day financial management.

According to Airtel Money, the service comes at a time when mobile payments continue to gain popularity among Kenyan businesses. A recent Mastercard SME Confidence Index shows that 95 per cent of small businesses now accept mobile payments, increasing demand for digital financial tools that offer more than basic payment services.

Speaking during the launch, Airtel Money Kenya Acting Managing Director Michael Bonke said the new wallet was developed to address the everyday financial challenges faced by small enterprises.

“Small businesses are at the heart of Kenya’s economy, yet many entrepreneurs still rely on personal wallets to manage business finances,” Bonke said.

He explained that Bizna Wallet allows businesses to separate personal and business transactions, monitor daily sales, access mini statements, receive payments across different mobile money networks and safeguard business payments from unauthorised reversals.

“Our goal is to provide solutions that help businesses operate more efficiently while making digital financial services more accessible and rewarding,” he added.

Cashback rewards expanded

Alongside the launch of Bizna Wallet, Airtel Money also announced an expansion of its Rudishiwa cashback programme.

The company said customers will now receive 50 per cent cashback on eligible transactions, including paybill payments, transfers to other mobile money networks, bank-to-wallet transfers and transfers from Airtel Money to bank accounts.

Bonke said the cashback initiative reflects Airtel Money’s continued investment in technology and customer-focused financial solutions.

“As Kenya’s digital economy continues to grow, so do the needs of businesses and consumers. At Airtel Money, we are continuously investing in technology, expanding our reach and developing innovative solutions that make financial services simpler, more secure and more relevant for our customers,” he said.

He noted that unlike previous airtime rewards, the new programme credits cashback as cash into a dedicated Cashback Wallet, allowing customers to transfer the funds to their main Airtel Money wallet and use them for other transactions.

How the programme works

The cashback programme is available to all registered Airtel Money customers who complete qualifying transactions worth Sh101 or more, with no registration required.

Eligible users receive cashback instantly into a dedicated Cashback Wallet, accessible through both the My Airtel App and the *USSD 334# platform. The funds can then be transferred to the customer’s main Airtel Money wallet for use across various Airtel Money services.
