KNEC releases 2025 KCSE and KJSEA feedback reports and past papers

Date:

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released its 2025 KCSE and KJSEA examination feedback reports, alongside past question papers and marking schemes for schools, teachers and other education stakeholders.

The council announced that the publications are now available for purchase, providing schools and educators with access to detailed examination feedback and revision materials.

KNEC’s bookshop is mandated to provide examination feedback reports, past papers, questions and marking schemes to schools, students, researchers and members of the public.

What is contained in the 2025 KCSE reports?

The 2025 KCSE feedback reports have been published in four volumes covering different subject areas.

They include:

  • Languages
  • Mathematics and Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Technical and Creative Arts

Each volume costs KSh950.

The reports are designed to provide feedback on candidates’ examination performance, including areas where learners performed well and those requiring improvement.

What about the KJSEA reports?

KNEC has also published the 2025 KJSEA feedback reports in three volumes.

The reports cover:

  • Languages, including Kenya Sign Language
  • Sciences and Pre-Technical Studies
  • Humanities and Creative Arts

Each KJSEA feedback report volume is available at KSh950.

The reports are particularly relevant to schools and teachers seeking to understand learner performance under Kenya’s Competency-Based Education system.

KNEC’s assessment framework identifies KJSEA as the summative assessment administered at the end of Grade 9 for learners following the age-based curriculum.

Past papers and marking schemes also available

In addition to the feedback reports, KNEC has made past examination papers and marking schemes available for purchase.

The publications include:

  • 2025 KCSE question papers and marking schemes
  • 2024 KCSE question papers and marking schemes
  • KPSEA question papers and marking schemes
  • KJSEA question papers and marking schemes

The price varies depending on the publication or package selected, with some materials retailing at KSh950, KSh1,150 or KSh1,550.

KNEC also has its Four Figure Mathematical Tables, 8th Edition, available at KSh480.

The council’s Educational Assessment Resource Centre lists feedback reports, marking schemes and past papers for KCSE, KJSEA and KPSEA among its assessment resources.

Where can you buy the reports?

The publications are available through the KNEC Bookshop at New Mitihani House in South C, Nairobi.

KNEC says its bookshop serves schools, students, candidates, education researchers and the general public with examination-related publications.

The materials are also available through selected bookshops that stock Mountain Top Publishers titles.

For enquiries about the publications, buyers can contact the relevant outlets using the contact details provided by KNEC and the publisher.

Why the feedback reports matter

The examination feedback reports are more than revision materials.

They give teachers and education institutions an opportunity to examine patterns in candidate performance, identify areas of difficulty and use the findings to improve teaching and examination preparation.

The release also gives schools access to official past papers and marking schemes that can be used for revision and assessment practice ahead of upcoming national examinations.

KNEC continues to provide official examination resources covering KCSE, KJSEA and KPSEA through its bookshop and assessment resource services.

For students and teachers preparing for future assessments, the new publications therefore offer both past examination material and an analysis of how candidates performed in the 2025 assessments.
