The newly built 16-storey apartments feature public facilities at the estate, including modern police and fire stations, a well-equipped Level IV hospital, and a school.

“The keys we are giving you today are not just keys to open a door of a house, but to open a decent home for you and your children,” Ruto said during the hand over ceremony.

According to President Ruto, the government is building 14,000 affordable housing units at the New Mukuru site, with over 240,000 units currently under construction countrywide.

Ruto’s Minority Plan

President William Ruto has directed the establishment of a KShs 500 million annual National Minority Scholarship Programme to help minority communities secure quality education.

The Ministry of Education will also set aside KShs 200 million annually as an Education Infrastructure Fund to construct, upgrade, and equip schools and middle-level colleges in minority and marginalised areas.

Newly-launched National Policy on Ethnic Minorities, Indigenous and Marginalised Communities (2025-2035) will run the initiative.

The Minorities and Marginalised Communities Directorate will oversee the creation of a National Council for Ethnic Minorities and Marginalised Communities through legislation.

Ruto directed that the Minorities and Marginalised Communities Directorate shall be immediately established within the Office of the President to coordinate implementation across government.

Ongeri @mp_ongeri wrote “Thank you, President Ruto, for this landmark policy! The KSh500 million National Minority Scholarship Programme will empower marginalized communities and enhance education access, fostering inclusivity and equitable development”

Seven Kenyans Arrested in South Africa

South Africa on Wednesday confirmed they had arrested and deported seven Kenyan nationals illegally working on processing refugee applications for the U.S. government.

South Africa’s Ministry of Home Affairs in a statement said the Kenyans had entered South Africa on tourist visas and illegally taken up work at a processing centre.

Charlie @BeingCharlie wrote “Their actions violated South Africa’s immigration laws and may risk strain diplomatic relations between Kenya, South Africa, and the United States. This reflects poorly on Kenya’s reputation. Very unfortunate!”
