How students can revise their KUCCPS placement choices

Date:

As the 2025/2026 placement cycle approaches, many students are actively searching for the KUCCPS student portal to revise their course choices.

Whether you are aiming to secure a degree, diploma, or certificate placement, the portal allows applicants to adjust their preferred programmes within specified deadlines. While the main university revision for the 2025/2026 cycle was held in mid-2025, certain intakes, such as the KMTC March 2026 intake, remain open for application until January 27, 2026.

This article provides a step-by-step guide on revising your choices, eligibility criteria, and helpful tips to ensure a smooth application process.

Accessing the KUCCPS student portal

To begin revising your choices, visit the KUCCPS Student Portal. You will need your login credentials, which include:

  • Username: Your KCSE Index Number
  • Year: 2024 or 2025, depending on when you sat for your KCSE
  • Password: Either your KCPE Index Number or your Birth Certificate Number, as registered during exams

Once logged in, navigate the portal to access programme options, revision forms, and submission tools.

Exploring and selecting programmes

After logging in, click on the “Programmes” tab. Here, you can browse available courses for universities, TVETs, and KMTC institutions. While exploring:

  • Check minimum subject requirements to ensure eligibility
  • Review previous cut-off points for guidance on competitive programmes

As you identify suitable courses, add them to your “Basket” to keep track of their programme codes. This will simplify entry when filling your revision form.

Entering programme codes and prioritization

Next, navigate to the “Application/Revision” tab. Enter the programme codes from your Basket in order of preference. For degree applicants, it is important to note that choices 1a, 1b, and 1c should reflect the same course in different institutions. This strategy increases your chances of placement without violating KUCCPS guidelines.

Submitting and paying for your application

Once all choices are entered, click “Submit.” Payment is required to finalize the revision:

  • First-time applicants: KSh 1,500
  • Revision of previous application: KSh 1,000

Payments are made via eCitizen, following the system-generated instructions. After payment, you must enter your portal password to confirm submission. A confirmation message will appear once your choices have been successfully revised.

Eligibility for revision

Students eligible to revise their choices include:

  • Unsuccessful applicants: Those who applied previously but did not secure a placement
  • New applicants: KCSE candidates who meet minimum grade requirements (C+ and above for degree courses; C to E for TVETs)
  • Medical candidates: Students interested in KMTC courses within the current January intake

Important tips for students

  • Check course requirements: Only apply for programmes where you meet the minimum subject requirements
  • Verify institution accreditation: Ensure that private institutions are officially recognized for your chosen course
  • Seek assistance: KUCCPS support is available at all Huduma Centres nationwide for guidance on portal use and submission issues

Revising choices on the KUCCPS portal is a critical step for students aiming to secure placement in their preferred institutions. By carefully exploring available programmes, entering correct codes, and following submission procedures, applicants can maximize their chances of admission. For current applicants targeting the KMTC March 2026 intake, it is essential to act before January 27, 2026, to ensure timely placement. Staying informed, meeting eligibility criteria, and using KUCCPS support services can make the revision process seamless and successful.
