I never sent her to insult Ida! Babu Owino distances self from blogger’s attack on Odinga family

Date:

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has distanced himself from Maverick Aoko’s attack on late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s family including personal attacks at Ida Odinga, who she accused of meddling into ODM politics, among other unprintable allegations.

The controversial social media personality and blogger who has openly declared her support for the lawmaker and his intention to occupy Nairobi’s top post in the 2027 general elections, recently asked Ida to keep off the MP and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

“Ida Odinga, Mum, Pliz, you are still grieving. Achana na siasa. Achana na Sifuna. Achana na Babu. Mourn Jakom in peace!” she shared on X, message alleging cracks between the two vocal MPs and Ida.

But MP Babu Owino cautioned that though she appreciated Aoko’s support, her statements should not be misconstrued to be his or having emanated from him.

He further insisted that he has never at any time asked the blogger, who has declared interest in the Nairobi Woman Rep seat in the coming elections, to attack the Odinga family, including Ida who he described as a loving Mum.

“Maverick Aoko is my friend and my fierce supporter, of which I’m truly grateful and appreciative of. Often times when she posts on X, people are under the impression that I am the one who tells her what to post,” he shared on Facebook.

“Maverick is an independent minded person. I do not know her sources and have never told her to attack the Odinga family. Winnie Odinga is my friend, Junior is friend and so is Rosemary. How can I insult their only mother?”

The MP said he could never insult such a mother who has been good to him and who he love back.
