The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended 62 Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers over safety violations.
Through a statement, NTSA said the 62 drivers are drawn from 6 matatu saccos in the country after they were caught in multiple violations.
Tahmeed Express leads the list with 23 suspended drivers, while Latema Travellers Bus and Safari Company has 13 drivers also suspended.
NTSA has advised that thr suspended drivers face a fresh re-resting to confirm their capability to operate PSVs.
10 drivers from Meru Nissan Operators Sacco, 6 from Moline Prestige Services Shuttle Limited, 7 from MTrans Sacco and 3 from Enabled Mashariki Investment Limited have also been suspended.
Saccos whose drivers have been suspended are required to organise safety awareness trainings for their drivers as well as present vehicles for inspection.
For the month of December, NTSA has collaborated with the National Police Service (NPS) to monitor and evaluate motorists.
