Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said efforts around President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election campaign will prioritize securing a commanding victory rather than merely winning a second term.
Speaking during a church fundraiser in Kilgoris, Narok County, Mudavadi indicated that the campaign strategy is centered on expanding the voter margin to deliver an outcome that leaves no room for dispute.
“As we focus on President Ruto’s victory, the conversation should go beyond the issue of two terms. The real debate should be about the margin of victory between our candidate and his competitors,” Mudavadi said.
He noted that the campaign team is working to mobilise voters across the country to ensure a strong turnout that would translate into a decisive mandate.
“We want a resounding and decisive victory for President Ruto. A victory that speaks loudly and clearly, one that cannot be contested,” he added.
Mudavadi further stressed that the intention is to deliver a result so overwhelming that it discourages any attempts to challenge the outcome in court.
“Tunataka zile kura mheshimiwa Rais atapata kwa debe isipatie mtu yeyote nafasi ya kukataa matokeo, hata yule anafikiria ataenda kortini akome na ajifiche,” he said.

Push for unity and peace ahead of polls
At the same event, Mudavadi urged Kenyans to uphold peace as the country gears up for the next general election, warning that instability could undermine development gains.
“As the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, I have seen what other countries go through in the absence of peace. It is heartbreaking,” he said.
He pointed to ongoing conflicts in different parts of the world, noting that such situations often lead to loss of life, displacement, and destruction of critical infrastructure.
“When we focus on development but disregard peace, then all the infrastructure we build will mean nothing,” he cautioned.
Mudavadi called on citizens to support the government while maintaining national cohesion, saying peace remains the foundation of economic and social progress.
“Naomba Wakenya tuwe na imani na serikali na tudumishe amani siku zote. Amani ndio msingi wa maisha bora,” he said.
Government defends economic progress
The Prime CS also defended the government’s economic record, arguing that Kenya has remained relatively stable despite global challenges.
He cited data indicating that several African countries have experienced currency depreciation, noting that Kenya has managed to stay within stable economic parameters.
“I am happy to report that Kenya is not among the countries facing severe currency decline, which shows we are on a steady path under President Ruto’s leadership,” Mudavadi said.
He also highlighted improvements in the energy sector, crediting the government-to-government fuel arrangement for stabilizing supply and prices.
“When President Ruto took office, high oil prices were driving up the cost of living and affecting key sectors like manufacturing and transport. Today, we are seeing a more stable and predictable fuel supply,” he said.
Mudavadi added that reforms in agriculture, including fertilizer subsidies, have helped boost production and improve yields for farmers.
Crackdown on cartels
Reiterating the administration’s stance on accountability, Mudavadi said the government remains committed to tackling cartels across key sectors of the economy.
He echoed the President’s position on dealing firmly with entrenched interests in sectors such as energy, health, and agriculture.
According to Mudavadi, eliminating these cartels is critical to ensuring that government reforms translate into real benefits for ordinary Kenyans.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, his remarks signal an early push by the ruling camp to consolidate support, frame the political narrative, and position President Ruto for a dominant electoral win.
