Ruto picks Public Service Commissioner Francis Meja to head Public Service

President William Ruto has named former NTSA Director-General and Francis Meja as the new chairman of the powerful Public Service Commission.

The surprise nomination ( RELATED: WHO IS MEJA ?), announced on January 21, 2026, has been sent to the National Assembly, where MPs will grill Meja before giving the final green light.

If approved, Meja will take charge of the body that oversees hiring, discipline and management of Kenya’s public service, putting him at the heart of government operations.
