UDA party kicks off sensitization ahead Of January polls

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has began its two-week sensitization program ahead of the party’s grassroot elections scheduled to take place on January 10 across 20 counties.

The party on December 10, 2025 held forums in Nyeri and Kirinyaga counties as part of its broader initiative to mobilize and inform members on the grassroot polls and is expected to visit other counties where the polls will be held.

On December 04, 2025 a joint meeting between UDA’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and tje National Elections Board (NEB) chaired by Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki resolved that the Party conducts election in 20 counties where polls had not been held.

The 20 counties include Baringo, Bomet, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Kericho, Nakuru, Nandi, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Samburu, Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Kakamega and Vihiga.

Registration for aspirants wishing to take part in the election started on December 04, and the portal is expected to close on December 23 at 5:00 Pm.

According to the party, aspirants will have a campaigning period that will run up to January 10 when the elections will take place.

UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire noted that the UDA was the party of choice giving reference to significant number of seats the party won in the recently concluded by-elections.

The party clinched 12 out of the 21 seats it fielded candidates including the Baringo Senate seat through Kiprono Chemitei, as well as the Mbeere North, Malava, and Banisa parliamentary seats through Leo Wamuthende, David Ndakwa, and Ahmed Hassan respectively.

UDA has emphasised that the upcoming grassroots polls present an opportunity to strengthen internal democracy and solidify the party’s national presence, as well as expand the party’s support base while preparing members for structured participation in party leadership at local levels.

The program will also train members on the election guidelines, dispute-resolution mechanisms, and the importance of orderly democratic participation.
