KNEC warns schools producing fake KJSEA results analysis

Date:

The Kenya National Examination Council has urged schools to stop misleading learners and parents with fake and innacurate KJSEA results analysis.

KNEC, through a statement on Monday December 15, 2025 noted that KJSEA unlike the former system did not provide an aggregate score, therefore no school can accurately determine their mean score.

“CBC is about nurturing individual potential, not ranking learners. Each subject is assessed independently, and learners’ achievements are reported using performance levels, not totals. This approach ensures that a child’s excellence in one subject is not overshadowed by weaker performance in another”, read part of the statement.

After the release of KJSEA examination results on Thursday, December 11, schools from across the country conducted internal analysis and produced mean scores which the Ministry of Education through KNEC has termed as fake analysis.

“We urge schools to stop misleading the public with fake and inaccurate KJSEA results analysis. There is no school mean score”, KNEC noted.

KJSEA is organised into eight achievement levels. The levels are divided into two bands within each grade.

The categories include Exceeding Expectations EE1, Exceeding Expectations EE2, Meeting Expectations ME1and ME2, Approaching Expectations AE1 and AE2, and Below Expectations BE1 and BE2.

Learners are set to be placed across Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Social Sciences, Arts and Sports pathways in accordance with their performance and selection from earlier choices, with the exercise set to be conducted digitally to ensure efficiency, transparency, and speed.

KJSEA examinations were conducted between October 27 and November 3
