Capt. George Kamal replaces Allan Kilavuka as Kenya Airways boss

Kenya Airways Chief Executive Officer Allan Kilavuka has left the airline after a six-year stint.

The Company’s Chief Operating Officer Captain George Kamal replaces him in acting capacity effective today, December 16, 2025.

The Board has directed Mr Kilavuka to immediately proceed on terminal leave ahead of expiry of his contractual tenure.

The Board of Directors of Kenya Airways Plc smade the announcement in a press release.

Kilavuka will be remembered for steering the airline throughout the turbulent Covid-19 era which impacted the aviation sector negatively.

REPLACEMENT

“He subsequently oversaw the growth of revenues and freight volumes, re-affirming the operational viability of the airline. The Board and management of the Company hereby express their gratitude to Allan for his diligence, service, leadership, and… wish him the best in his future endeavours,” the communication added.

The process to recruit a substantive replacement for the position will proceed concurrently.

Captain Kamal is an aviation executive with over 29 years of leadership experience across the Middle East and African markets and holds a Doctorate in Business Administration and an MSc in Aviation Management.

He recently served as Operations Director at Air Arabia, and as Chief Operations & Executive Officer at Iraqi Airways.
