Kenya Power has issued a notice of scheduled power maintenance affecting parts of Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Nairobi and Vihiga counties on Monday, March 2, 2026.
The planned maintenance will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in all the listed areas. The utility company says the temporary power interruptions are necessary to facilitate network upgrades and routine maintenance aimed at improving reliability and stabilising electricity supply.
Mt. Kenya Region
Parts of Nyeri County – Sasini, Tree Tops
Customers in Sasini and Tree Tops areas will experience power interruption during the maintenance period. Affected locations include Sasini Waihanya Estate and Factory, St. Mary’s Hospital, Mweiga Estate Pump, Ex-Pages, Kahuruko Village, Kihuyo, Nyarugumu, Kamwenja TTC, Nyeri High School, Mathari Hospital, Mathari Shopping Centre, ATC Booster 1 & 2, Kagongo, Outspan, Chania, Nyeri Hill and Mary Immaculate Hospital, as well as adjacent customers.
Parts of Kirinyaga County – Mucagara Town, Thumaita
In Kirinyaga County, power will be interrupted in Mucagara Town and Thumaita. Areas affected include Mucagara Market, Kiambogo, Gacam Factory, Kamugunda Market and parts of Kamweti Junction and neighbouring premises.
Nairobi Region
Parts of Nairobi West – Jakaya Kikwete, Milimani
In Nairobi, sections of Jakaya Kikwete Road and Milimani will be without electricity during the scheduled hours.
Affected locations include parts of Valley Road, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) offices, Nairobi Region Police Headquarters, Nairobi Central SDA Church, Ambassador Court, The Heron Hotel, Ralph Bunche Road, State House Avenue, Middle East Bank, Comfort Hotel, Saggy Suits, Sagret Hotel, Telcom Plaza, Swiss Mount Hotel, CITAM Valley Road, Pitman House, Department of Defence (DOD), parts of Woodlands Road and Lenana Road, Russian Embassy, China Embassy, Pharmacy and Poisons Board, Jabavu Road and Jabavu Lane, among other adjacent customers.
Western Region
Parts of Vihiga County – Vihiga, Bukuga
In Vihiga County, areas within Vihiga and Bukuga will be affected. Customers around Vihiga Law Courts, Vihiga Police Station, Affordable Housing Vihiga project site, Vihiga High School, Emanda, Bukuga, Lusiaola, Shangilia, Madira, Mulele, Induro, Kereda and BI Water, together with surrounding areas, should expect power interruptions during the maintenance window.
Advisory to Customers
Kenya Power has advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period. The company also reminded the public to treat all electrical installations as live at all times, even during scheduled interruptions.
Power supply will be restored once maintenance works are completed, and restoration may occur earlier than the indicated time if the works are finalised ahead of schedule.
