Kenya Power announces scheduled power interruptions in multiple counties

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance outages set to affect several counties across the country on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

The scheduled interruptions, which will run between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in most areas, are part of ongoing network maintenance aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring a stable power supply.

Nairobi region

In Nairobi, parts of Kiamumbi and surrounding areas including Kahawa West, Midas, Sidia Farm, and Kamiti Prison will be affected during the day-long outage.

Eastern region

In Kitui County, areas of Tulia, Muthale, and Kakeani will experience power interruptions. Affected locations include Tulia Market, Muthale Market, Kakeani Market, Uvaani Market, and nearby institutions such as Muthale Mission Hospital and local schools.

Central region

Several counties in the Central region will also be affected. In Kiambu County, areas around Kawaida, Nazareth, and Riara including Gatatha Farmers, Kimorori, Koba Waters, and Nazareth Hospital will experience outages.

In Nyeri County, parts of Kihari and Waihura including Othaya, Kiriti, Karogea, and Kagumo areas will be without electricity for the better part of the day.

Kirinyaga County will also see outages in Kagumo Town and Gatwe Market, affecting nearby trading centres and residential areas.

Rift Valley region

In Uasin Gishu County, areas of Maili Nne, Kapchumba, and Kapkeben will be affected, including Kapchumba and Kapkeben centres.

Nyanza region

In Nyamira County, areas such as Nyansiongo and Manga will experience outages, with key centres including Nyansiongo Tea, Manga, and surrounding villages affected.

Residents in Migori County were also listed among those to be affected, particularly in areas such as Obama, Kokuro, Gamba, and Nyatambe.

Advisory to customers

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.

The utility company noted that the maintenance works are essential for improving reliability and efficiency of the power network.

Customers are encouraged to treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period and to report any emergencies through Kenya Power’s official channels.
