Kenya Power announces scheduled outages across multiple regions on Wednesday

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in several parts of the country on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, as part of ongoing maintenance and network improvement works.

The power utility said the planned outages will affect areas in Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, and Nyamira counties between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Nairobi and surrounding counties to face outages

In Nairobi, the interruption will affect Gigiri and surrounding areas including Ruaka Road, UN Crescent, UN Avenue, Daisy Road, Magnolia Estate, and Whispers Avenue.

Parts of Machakos County, specifically Athi River, will also experience outages, with affected zones including Athi River Sokoni, Fanak Limited, Saj Ceramics, and surrounding businesses.

In Kajiado County, areas such as Olekasasi, Nazarene University, and Tuala will be affected. Kenya Power said locations including parts of Masai Road, Nazarene University, Kitengela Glass, and nearby residential areas will be without electricity during the scheduled period.

North Rift region and Uasin Gishu affected

In the North Rift region, parts of Uasin Gishu County including Cheptiret and Kapkoiga will also experience power interruptions.

Affected areas include Cheptiret, Kapkoi, Kerita, Kapkoiga, Bayete, Tarakwa, Koluoget, Burnt Forest, Kondoo, Cherus, Kapilat, Kaptingia, Ndanai and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power noted that the maintenance works are aimed at improving reliability and stabilizing power supply in the region.

South Nyanza region among hardest hit

In South Nyanza, multiple areas in Kisii and Nyamira counties will be affected by the planned outage.

In Kisii County, areas including Nyangweta, Etago, and Ekona will experience interruptions. Specific locations affected include Kenyenya Primary, Nyangweta SDA Secondary, Etago Market, Nyamache, Ekona, and nearby centres.

Additional parts of Kisii, including Iyabe, Nyachenge, and Kerina, will also be affected, covering institutions such as St. Reubens School, Kerina Market, Nyachenge Market, and surrounding areas.

In Nyamira County, areas of Ikonge, Ekerenyo, and Obwari will experience outages, with Kenya Power listing Ikonge Market, Ekerenyo Market, Nyamusi Hospital, Magonga Secondary School, and Ikonge Boys among the affected locations.

Maintenance aimed at improving reliability

Kenya Power said the scheduled interruptions are necessary to facilitate routine maintenance and upgrade works on the power network.

The utility advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.

Power supply is expected to be restored once the maintenance works are completed.
