Kenya Power announces planned outages across multiple regions on Wednesday, 28th

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across several counties on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to allow for routine maintenance and system upgrades.

The utility company said the planned outages will affect parts of the Mt. Kenya, Coast, Nairobi, North Rift, and Western regions.

Mt. Kenya Region

Nyeri County will experience multiple outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the following areas:

Kagumo High, Kirichu: Kagumo High School, Kirichu Market, Ndurutu, Kiganjo Estate, Kiganjo Sewage, Gachika High School, Kang’ong’a, Ndathi-Ini, Wangi Water, Rosa and nearby customers.

Kiawara, Ruirie, Nairutia: Lachuta, Kiawara, Lamuria, Bellevue, Kabendera, Ruirie, Kariminu, Tanyai, Nairutia, Mugunda, Ngobit, Kariguini, Mahiga Meru, Matopeni and surrounding areas.

Kangocho, Mwanda: Kangocho Coffee Factory, Karumaindo, Mwanda Market, Gichathaini, Kiunyu, Thengeini, Bishop Kirima, Ihara and adjacent customers.

Coast Region

In Taita Taveta County, power will be interrupted in Mlundinyi and surrounding areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Ndome, Mlundinyi, Tausa, Lukasinyi, Salaita and nearby customers.

Nairobi Region

Several areas in the capital will also be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:

Spring Valley: Parts of Spring Valley, Bendera Lane and adjacent areas.

Kilimani (Ngong Road): Coptic Hospital, China Centre, Muchai Drive, parts of Kindaruma Drive and nearby customers.

North Rift Region

In Uasin Gishu County, outages will occur from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in:

Kesses, Kipsamoo, Cheptiret: Including Lelmolok, Kipsamoo, Cheptiret and surrounding areas.

Western Region

In Kakamega County, power will be interrupted in Musaga and surrounding areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Samitsi, Malava Market, Malava District Hospital, Malichi, Kimangeti, Tumbeni and nearby customers.

Advisory to Customers

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period.

The scheduled interruptions are part of ongoing efforts to enhance electricity reliability, improve network stability, and support growing demand across the country.
