Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu and Kwale counties on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, as the utility company carries out routine maintenance on its power network.

According to the notice, the scheduled outages will affect customers in selected areas within the Nairobi, North Rift and Coast regions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Nairobi Region

In Nairobi County, areas around Lenana Road and Nyangumi will experience power interruptions during the day-long maintenance exercise.

The affected areas include Lenana Road, Kasuku Road, Nyangumi Road, Yaya Centre, Timau Road, Mtito Andei Road, Mukuyu Lane, Jabavu Road and Thetha Lane, alongside neighbouring customers.

Kenya Power said the outage is part of ongoing maintenance works aimed at improving reliability and efficiency of electricity supply in the city.

Uasin Gishu County

In the North Rift Region, customers in parts of Uasin Gishu County will also be affected by the planned blackout.

The interruption will affect areas around Chepkoiyo and Mkombozi, including Kesses, Ngecheck, Ndubuneti, Mukombozi, Lelmokwo and Lelboinet.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled maintenance period.

Kwale County

In the Coast Region, Kenya Power announced planned outages in parts of Kwale County, specifically in Lungalunga and Vanga areas.

The interruption will affect Lungalunga, Horohoro, Kenyaloma, Vanga, Mwangwei and adjacent customers.

The utility company stated that the maintenance works are necessary to enhance service delivery and stabilize electricity supply in the affected regions.

Customers Advised to Prepare

Kenya Power routinely conducts scheduled maintenance to upgrade infrastructure, connect new customers and improve network performance.

The company advised customers in the affected areas to plan ahead and take necessary precautions during the interruption period.
