The government has opened nominations for representatives from various sectors to join a committee that will help shape Kenya’s development agenda beyond Vision 2030.
The Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat is seeking representatives from key stakeholder groups to serve on the Multi-Stakeholder Steering Committee, which will oversee a national conversation on the country’s long-term development priorities.
The initiative follows a directive issued by President William Ruto in January 2026 to a Technical Working Group chaired by Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o to develop guidelines for the next phase of Kenya’s development planning.
According to a MyGov notice, the working group’s report was published on July 21, 2026, paving the way for the National Conversation on Beyond Vision 2030, which was launched on August 12.
Who can participate?
The Secretariat has invited organised groups from a wide range of sectors to nominate representatives to the steering committee.
They include private businesses and employers, workers’ associations, professional bodies, youth and student organisations, women’s groups, persons with disabilities, civil society organisations, faith-based organisations, academia and the Kenyan diaspora.
Technology organisations, media, farmers and cooperatives are also eligible to participate, alongside representatives of marginalised and minority communities and pastoralist groups.
Each stakeholder cluster is required to identify a convenor and nominate three volunteer representatives to the committee.
The Secretariat said each group of three should include at least one man, one woman and one youth, in an effort to ensure broad representation in the national discussions.
The convenor should be an organisation with recognised credibility and the ability to bring together different stakeholders within its sector.
Nominees are expected to have relevant experience and demonstrate a willingness to participate in consultations, dialogue and consensus-building. The positions are voluntary.
Grassroots consultations planned
The Multi-Stakeholder Steering Committee will guide consultations from the ward level to the national level as the government develops a framework for Kenya’s next long-term development vision.
Organisations that do not fall within the listed stakeholder clusters have also been invited to seek inclusion.
They are required to submit a one-page memorandum explaining who they represent, why they should be included in the process and how they would contribute to discussions at both grassroots and national levels.
The memorandum is to be submitted through the Beyond Vision 2030 portal.
October 7 deadline
All nominations and expressions of interest must reach the Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat by 5pm on October 7, 2026.
The Secretariat said the process is intended to ensure that Kenya’s next long-term development vision reflects the aspirations of citizens and is aligned with the principles of the Constitution.
The consultations will provide a platform for different sectors of society to contribute to discussions on Kenya’s priorities after the implementation period of Vision 2030 comes to an end.
