To find your polling centre in Kenya, visit the IEBC voter verification portal at verify.iebc.or.ke and enter your national ID or passport number and your year of birth. The portal is the commission’s official online route for checking voter particulars.
But knowing the school or community hall where you vote is only part of the check. You also need to confirm your assigned polling station or stream when IEBC makes those details available.
If your record shows a polling centre but the station or stream reads “Not Applicable” or “N/A,” do not immediately assume you have been removed from the register. IEBC explained this issue during the 2026 registration exercise, saying specific station and stream details would be published with the final register.
How to check your polling centre online
Use your phone or computer and follow these steps:
Open verify.iebc.or.ke.
Enter the ID or passport number used for your voter registration.
Enter your year of birth in four digits.
Submit the details using the portal’s verification control.
Review the registration information returned.
The official portal currently asks for a document number and year of birth. Check both carefully before submitting, particularly if you registered using a passport.
Where displayed, confirm your name, county, constituency, ward and polling centre. Save the centre’s name for your own reference, but check again when IEBC releases the final polling arrangements for 2027.
What is the difference between a polling centre and a stream?
A polling centre is the venue, such as a school, where voting takes place. One venue can contain several polling stations, commonly called streams, serving different groups of registered voters.
For example, knowing that you vote at a particular primary school tells you which venue to visit. Your stream identifies the specific voting point within that venue.
In its April 2026 explanation, IEBC said registration and polling centres would be divided into stations or streams containing up to 700 voters once registration concluded. The final register would identify each voter’s specific station and stream.
Why might your polling station show “N/A”?
IEBC linked missing station and stream details in April 2026 to the ongoing voter registration exercise.
That explanation matters because a missing stream number is different from a missing voter record. If your registration particulars and polling centre appear, but your stream does not, check subsequent IEBC notices and verify again when final allocations are available.
If your entire record cannot be found, or the centre shown is unfamiliar, seek assistance from IEBC rather than treating it as the same issue.
What if the portal does not work?
If the website fails to load or returns an error, check your entries and try again later. A failed online search alone does not establish that you are unregistered.
IEBC’s voter-service guidance identifies constituency offices as another route for inspecting registration particulars. Take your original identification document and explain whether you need to locate your record, confirm your centre or correct an error.
The verification portal also lists IEBC’s contact number, 020 2877000, and email address, info@iebc.or.ke.
What if you want to vote somewhere else?
Finding your polling centre does not change it.
If you have moved and want your registration transferred to another electoral area, IEBC’s March 2026 notice directs registered voters to present themselves at the IEBC constituency office in their preferred electoral area. Follow the commission’s applicable transfer requirements and notices.
After requesting a transfer, check your record again to confirm the change has been reflected. Do not assume that submitting an application means it has already been completed.
Can you vote at the nearest polling station?
You should plan to vote at your designated station. IEBC’s voting guidance requires voters to present their original national ID or valid Kenyan passport at their assigned polling station.
Before election day, confirm the venue, check your final station or stream allocation and plan your journey. If your record contains a problem, raise it with IEBC early.
