The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has confirmed that the Isiolo South Constituency by-election will be held on February 26, 2026.
Returning Officer Abdi Sheikh announced that all logistical and administrative preparations are underway to ensure a smooth electoral process across the constituency.
Isiolo South has a total of 61 polling stations and 22,216 registered voters who are expected to participate in the exercise. All polling stations will open at 6:00am and close at 5:00pm.
Call for peace and compliance
Abdi Sheikh urged candidates and political parties to strictly adhere to the electoral code of conduct throughout the election period to safeguard the integrity of the process.
“Candidates and political parties must observe the electoral code of conduct to ensure a peaceful and orderly election,” he said.
He also called on voters to maintain peace and exercise their democratic right responsibly.
“We encourage all registered voters to turn out in large numbers and remain peaceful as they elect leaders of their choice,” Sheikh added.
IEBC commitment to credibility
The Returning Officer reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible by-election.
“The IEBC remains open to engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure the by-election meets the highest standards of integrity,” he stated.
Security agencies and election officials are expected to work closely to guarantee a calm environment before, during and after voting.
The Isiolo South by-election is part of the Commission’s ongoing electoral calendar as preparations continue nationwide.
