Kenya National Examinations Council invites applications for KJSEA and KCSE Examiners

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced vacancies for teachers seeking to serve as examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

In a notice issued on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the council said successful applicants will undergo mandatory training between March and April 2026. The training will combine virtual sessions and residential engagement.

KNEC clarified that only shortlisted candidates will be required to pay a KSh 10,500 training fee. Payment details will be communicated through SMS and the examiners’ portal.

Requirements for KJSEA and KCSE Examiners

To qualify, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be a practising teacher or tutor in the relevant subject area at the level of examination or higher.
  • Must be registered and employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or the Public Service Commission.
  • Must possess a minimum qualification of a Diploma in Education.
  • Must have at least three years of teaching experience.
  • Must not be under interdiction or facing any disciplinary action from the employer.
  • Must be recommended by their Head of Institution.
  • Must be aged 50 years or below.

Tutors from Teachers’ Training Colleges and TVET institutions are particularly encouraged to apply for KJSEA subjects such as Home Science, Art, Music, Computer Studies, Wood Technology, Metal Technology, and Building Construction.

Teachers interested in becoming examiners must submit their applications through the official KNEC Examiners’ Portal at:

The application process is as follows:

Step 1: Visit the KNEC Examiners’ Portal using the link provided above.

Step 2: Log in using your CP2 username and password if you already have an account.

Step 3: If you have forgotten your password, click on “Reset Password” and enter your registered mobile number in the format 2547XXXXXXXX to receive new login credentials.

Step 4: If you do not have a CP2 account, click on “Create Account” and follow the instructions to register and obtain login details.

Step 5: After logging in successfully, complete your personal profile and save the information.

Step 6: On the dashboard, click on “Apply for Training” and select your preferred subject from the listed vacancies.

Applicants are advised to ensure all information provided is accurate before submitting.

What happens after application?

Shortlisted candidates will receive official communication regarding payment procedures and training schedules. The residential training venue will be communicated to successful applicants at a later date.

Upon successful completion of the training, qualified examiners will be engaged by KNEC to mark KJSEA and KCSE examination papers in their respective subjects.
