Kenya Power announces scheduled maintenance in Nyandarua and Nyeri counties 23rd Jan 2026

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption affecting parts of Nyandarua and Nyeri counties today, Friday, January 23, 2026, as part of routine network maintenance aimed at improving service reliability.

In the Central Rift region, the maintenance exercise will affect parts of Nyandarua County, specifically areas within Mawingu, Machinery and Miharati. The planned outage will run from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., during which electricity supply will be temporarily switched off to allow engineers to carry out necessary works on the power network.

Areas expected to experience the interruption include the whole of Mumui, Mawingu, Matopeni, Gathiriga, Tigoni, Migaa, St. John Bondeni, Machinery, Kahiga, the whole of Miharati, Ndiara, Munyuini, Mubau and surrounding customers.

Kenya Power says the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the distribution network and reduce unplanned outages.

In the Mt. Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County will also be affected by a planned power interruption scheduled from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The outage will cover areas within Kahigaini, Kiandu and Ithenguri.

Customers in Kahigaini, Kwa Chief, Kiunyu, Kigwandi, Karurumo, Kiandu Market and School, Kariko, Kaiguri, Gondo and adjacent areas have been advised to plan accordingly during the interruption period.

Kenya Power has urged customers in the affected regions to take precautionary measures and apologised for any inconvenience caused. The utility reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity supply through continuous maintenance and infrastructure upgrades across the country.
