Kenya Power scheduled electricity interruptions – Tuesday, 27 January 2026

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in several parts of the country today, Tuesday, 27 January 2026, to allow for routine maintenance and network improvement works.

The planned outages will affect customers across multiple regions at different times during the day. Customers in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly.

Eastern Region

In Embu County, electricity supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Masinga Kengen Camps, Sogea, Kamukunji, Mukusu, Makutano Andei, Masinga Market, Katulye, Msingini, Mutwamwaki, Tulimyumbu, Kaewa, Musumaa, Kisuni, Ulutya, Kikumini, Kangonde, Kitangani, Mapatano, Kwasuvu, and surrounding areas.

In Kirinyaga County, power will be unavailable between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Gathigiriri Prison, NIB, KPLC offices, Kiriwasco, MRM, Kingati, Mwariko, Kiamanyeki, Mikimani Borehole, Mwaniki Residents, and neighbouring customers.

Parts of Laikipia County, including Katheri, Ontulili, Kwa Marete, and Kangaita, will also experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Central Region

In Kiambu County, customers in Gikambura, Lusigetti Shopping Centre, FCC, Riunderi, Gichuhiro, Jambu TV, Kaigata, Nachu, Mawathaine, and nearby areas will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the same period, supply will also be interrupted in Thindigua and Fourways, affecting Fourways Estate, Kigwa Farm, Thindigua PCEA, Kwa Masai, Ankiah Apartments, and adjacent areas.

In Kiangombe and Athena, customers around Oasis, Kona 1, 2 & 3, Athena, Kiangombe, Kimuchu Primary and Secondary Schools, Superfine Africa Nuts, Leerand School, Alternative Energy G5, and surrounding areas will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

South Nyanza Region

In Migori County, power interruptions will affect Ranen, Kokuro, Dede, Nyakuru, Kanyimach, Maroo, Omware, and surrounding areas between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.In Homa Bay County, customers in the Pala area—including Pala, Nyakongo, Pala Prison, Ngeta, Oyuma, Ongalo, Osika, Kanyakutu, Sombro, Aros, Nyangwete, Jonyo, Chula, and Sanda—will be without electricity during the same hours.

The Nyatoto area, covering Nyatoto, Ongayo, Nyabera, and Kona Koito, will also experience interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Nairobi Region

In Nairobi County, scheduled maintenance will affect parts of Ngong, Kawangware, Kibera, and surrounding neighbourhoods including Riara Road, Bamboo Lane, Wanyee Road, Nyakinywa Road, Talanta Stadium, War Memorial Cemetery, Githembe, Meteorological Department, Midhill Hospital, Suna Estate, Junction Mall, Ngando, Dagoretti Corner, Gitanga Road, Rusinga School, Braeburn School, Tea Board of Kenya, Miotoni Road, Lenana School, Race Course, Jockey Club, Jamhuri Park, Rowland Camp, Ayany, Showground, National Beekeeping, Santack Estate, Gikuyu Close, and adjacent areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In the CBD and industrial areas, electricity will be interrupted around Railway Hotel, Premium Hotel, and Maili Nne between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

North Rift Region

In Uasin Gishu County, customers in Kapkatembu, Kapkenyeloi, Kapchesukunwo, Soin Primary School, and surrounding areas will experience a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Western Region

In Kisumu County, power supply will be interrupted in the Farm Machineries area, affecting Farm Machineries, Grand Royal Swiss Hotel, Bukna, Bance Park, Kapko, Kiboswa, Safaricom Booster, and nearby areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kakamega County, customers in Malava, Samisi, MalaSnga, Malava Market, Malava Hospital, Malichi, Kimangeti Tumbeni, Kakoyi, Kambi Kwanza, Shamberere, West Kenya Sugar, Mahira, KWS, Kambiri, and surrounding areas will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Customer Advisory

Kenya Power regrets the inconvenience caused and advises customers in all affected areas to treat electrical installations as live during the interruption period. Electricity supply will be restored progressively once the scheduled works are completed.
