The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced a nationwide training programme for examiners of the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
In a public notice, KNEC stated that the training will target qualified teachers interested in marking KJSEA and KCSE examinations scheduled between March and April 2026.
The Council said the programme is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen assessment standards and ensure quality marking processes across the country.
Training structure and fee
KNEC confirmed that the training will be conducted through a blended model, combining online coursework with a residential component.
Shortlisted applicants will first complete online modules before proceeding to a residential training session at designated centres. The venue for the residential training will be communicated to successful applicants.
The training fee is KSh 10,500 and will only be paid by shortlisted candidates. Payment instructions will be sent via SMS through the application portal.
KNEC emphasized that qualified examiners who complete the training may subsequently be engaged to mark KJSEA and KCSE examinations based on the Council’s recruitment needs for each paper.
