KRA opens applications for senior managers and deputy commissioners

Date:

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a fresh round of recruitment targeting experienced professionals to fill several senior management and deputy commissioner positions across the organisation.

In notices published in MyGov on Tuesday, March 3, the tax agency invited qualified candidates to apply for strategic roles spanning digital services, audit, investigations, compliance, intelligence and corporate planning. The recruitment drive is part of KRA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance revenue collection.

KRA, which serves as the national tax and customs administrator, said it is seeking “results-oriented, self-driven and dynamic individuals with high integrity” to support its mandate.

“Our vision is to be an agile tax and customs revenue agency facilitating voluntary compliance for all,” the Authority stated in the advertisement.

Wide range of managerial positions

Among the vacancies advertised are multiple managerial roles, including positions in digital communication and production, quality and master data management, continuous audit, analytics and strategic reporting, enterprise database administration and data engineering.

The agency is also recruiting chief managers in intelligence analysis, investigations and enforcement operations, education and compliance, strategy and planning, project management and regional audit centres.

At the senior executive level, KRA has advertised deputy commissioner positions covering performance management, investigations, the large taxpayer office, research and corporate planning, and compliance for regions east and south of Nairobi.

The Authority noted that each vacancy has one available position.

Application and submission process

KRA outlined a structured online application procedure for candidates interested in managerial roles. Applicants are required to register on the KRA recruitment portal using a personal email address before creating and updating their profiles.

Candidates must upload academic, professional and compliance certificates in PDF format and ensure their profiles are fully completed before submitting applications. The process includes confirming details under the “Overview Release” tab and agreeing to the data privacy statement before final submission.

For managerial positions, applicants have been asked to submit the required documents by Monday, March 3.

However, the recruitment process for deputy commissioner roles will be handled separately through the PKF recruitment portal. Interested candidates for these positions have until Tuesday, March 24, to submit their applications.

Focus on integrity and professionalism

KRA emphasised that integrity remains a key requirement for all applicants, underscoring the sensitive nature of revenue collection and enforcement functions.

The recruitment comes at a time when the government is under pressure to increase domestic revenue mobilisation to finance public expenditure and manage debt obligations. Strengthening leadership in areas such as investigations, compliance, data analytics and large taxpayer management is seen as critical to improving efficiency and sealing revenue leakages.

KRA continues to modernise its systems, including digitising services and enhancing data-driven enforcement mechanisms, as part of reforms aimed at boosting tax compliance and simplifying processes for taxpayers.

Interested professionals have been encouraged to carefully follow the outlined procedures and ensure all required documentation is submitted within the stipulated timelines.
