Scheduled power interruptions to affect multiple counties on April 1

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions set to affect multiple regions across the country on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, as part of ongoing system maintenance and network improvement works.

The planned outages will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in most affected areas, with some regions experiencing shorter or extended durations depending on the scope of works.

Western and Rift Valley Regions Affected

In Kakamega County, areas including Musaga, Samitsi, Kalenda, Malava, and parts of Malava District Hospital, Malichi, and Kambiri Market will experience power interruptions from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The outage will also affect sections around KWS, Inguvuli, and Shamberere National Polytechnic.

Meanwhile, parts of Nakuru County including Whole of NYS, Ngomongo, and Milimani will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with institutions such as NYS Barracks and ASTU among those listed.

In Bomet County, areas around Ndanai Market, Sotik TTI, and Kipsingei Market will also experience outages within the same time frame.

Additionally, parts of Uasin Gishu County including Mbacho, Musembe, and Maili Nne Centre will face power cuts, with some areas experiencing interruptions from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Central and Eastern Regions

In Meru County, residents in Kisima, Embori, Naari, and surrounding areas will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Key locations include Kisima Market, Karimba, and Ntugi.

Parts of Nyeri County will also experience outages, particularly in Kiamabara, Mungetho, Kiganjo, Chaka, and Mbiriri. Areas such as Kiamabara Market, Gachira Village, Safaricom and Airtel booster zones, and Chaka Market are among those listed.

Nairobi Region Interruptions

Within Nairobi, selected parts of Westlands and Kayole will be affected. In Westlands, areas along General Mathenge Road, Ring Road, and Eldama Ravine Road will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kayole, the interruption will impact Komarock Phase 4, Komarock Heights, Komarock Phase 3, and surrounding estates including Nyama Villa.

Nyanza Region

In Kisumu County, areas around Great Lakes University, Fishpond, Kajulu Water, and Nyabondo will also face power disruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Maintenance and Customer Advisory

Kenya Power stated that the interruptions are necessary to facilitate routine maintenance, network upgrades, and to enhance reliability and efficiency in electricity supply.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions, including unplugging electrical appliances to prevent damage when power is restored.

The utility also noted that power may be restored earlier than scheduled if maintenance works are completed ahead of time.
