Bolt Kenya has assured customers, drivers and delivery partners that its operations in the country remain unaffected, following the circulation of a fake notice on social media claiming the company was preparing to cease operations.
The ride-hailing platform dismissed the widely shared document as false and urged the public to rely only on official company communication channels for accurate information.
According to Bolt, the purported notice, which alleged that the company would shut down its Kenyan operations from June 8, did not originate from the company or any of its authorised representatives.
Company Reassures Drivers and Customers
In a statement, Bolt East Africa Senior General Manager Dimmy Kanyankole reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the Kenyan market, noting that the platform continues to serve thousands of customers daily while creating economic opportunities for drivers, riders and delivery partners.
“We wish to categorically state that the document circulating online is fake and does not originate from Bolt Kenya,” Kanyankole said.
He added that the company remains focused on providing safe, reliable and innovative mobility solutions while supporting livelihoods across the country.
The clarification comes after the document triggered concern among users, with some expressing fears about the future of one of Kenya’s largest ride-hailing services.
Investigations Underway
Bolt said it has launched investigations to establish the source of the misleading information and identify those responsible for creating and distributing the fabricated document.
The company indicated that appropriate action would be taken against individuals found to have deliberately spread false information that misrepresents the business and causes unnecessary public concern.
Stakeholders have been urged to disregard the fake notice and avoid sharing unverified information online.
Continued Investment in Kenya
The company emphasized that it remains committed to expanding its footprint in Kenya through innovation and investment in sustainable transport solutions.
Beyond ride-hailing services, Bolt has continued to grow its delivery and boda boda operations while advancing electric mobility initiatives aimed at promoting cleaner and more efficient transportation.
The company has already integrated more than 1,700 electric motorcycles into its platform, supporting efforts to reduce emissions while creating new income opportunities for riders.
Confidence in the Kenyan Market
Bolt noted that Kenya remains a strategic market within its African operations and reiterated its long-term commitment to supporting urban mobility and digital transport services.
The reassurance is expected to calm concerns among drivers, customers and business partners who rely on the platform for transportation, delivery services and income generation.
For now, Bolt says operations continue normally across the country, with customers encouraged to follow official company channels for verified updates and announcements.
