Kenya Power announces planned outages in 10 Counties, June 23

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity outages in parts of 10 counties on Tuesday, June 23, as the utility company undertakes routine maintenance and network improvement works.

In a notice issued on Monday, the company said the scheduled interruptions will affect selected areas in Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kwale and Kilifi counties.

Nairobi among affected counties

In Nairobi County, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in sections of Lenana Road, Nyangumi Road and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Areas expected to be affected include Kasuku Road, Timau Road, Mtito Andei Road, Mukuyu Lane, Jabavu Road, Thetha Lane and parts of the Yaya Centre area.

Uasin Gishu and Busia

Customers in parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience outages between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The interruption will affect Langas Kona Mbaya, Yamumbi, Gitwe and Jijenge Quarry.

In Busia County, electricity will be unavailable from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Busibwaro and neighbouring areas, including Siekunyu, Nasira, Kajoro, Nambale and Malanga.

Laikipia and Nyeri

In Laikipia County, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in areas around Kwa Huku SDA and the Toll Station.

Other affected locations include Ragati, Nanyuki Boarding, Tropical Timber, Aberdare Cottages, Burguret, Esiankiki Resort, Kinyuki County Hotel, Tambuzi Farm, Kamangura and Gathioro.

Meanwhile, customers in parts of Nyeri County will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Narumoru Girls, Dawama, Rongai, Munyu, Lusoi, Narumoru Dairies, Mere, Warazo Village and Bagdad.

Meru, Tharaka Nithi and Embu

Meru County is set for a longer interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. around Miathene Market and surrounding areas.

Locations listed include Ithamare Primary School, Kimuthi Polytechnic, Kaliati Primary School, Miathene Dispensary, Miathene Boys, Kitheo Village, Kiandui Village, ATC Kitheo, Kitheo Secondary School and Mwithu Coffee Factory.

In Tharaka Nithi County, electricity will be unavailable between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in Makuri and Chogoria areas.

Affected locations include Makuri Girls, Makuri TBC, Kathambara Coffee Factory, Girira Village, Milimani, H Mantu and Karogero Village.

Parts of Embu County will also be affected from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including St. Christopher Nembure, Karue Booster, Ena Market, Limbua, Rukira Market and Ndatu Market.

Kwale and Kilifi

In Kwale County, customers in Manyatta, Alliance Safari and Baobab areas will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, parts of Kilifi County will be without electricity between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Kwa Ndomo, Mitangani, Majivuni, Prisons, Kaoyeni Dispensary, ADC Malindi and PK Estate.

Kenya Power said the planned outages are necessary to facilitate maintenance works aimed at improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply across the affected regions.
