KMTC opens September 2026 applications: How to apply before the August 11 deadline

Date:

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has officially opened applications for its September 2026 intake, giving prospective students three weeks to apply for various pre-service, in-service and upgrading programmes.

The college announced that applications are now open through both the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Student Portal and the KMTC Admissions Portal, depending on the programme.

The application window will close on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

How to apply for the KMTC September 2026 intake

KMTC has outlined different application channels for prospective students based on the type of programme they wish to pursue.

Applicants seeking admission to pre-service programmes should submit their applications through the KUCCPS Student Portal.

Meanwhile, those interested in in-service or upgrading programmes have been directed to apply through the KMTC Admissions Portal.

“Pre-service programmes are now open for application through the KUCCPS Student Portal,” KMTC said in a notice.

The institution added that, “In-service and upgrading programmes are open through the KMTC Admissions Portal.”

KMTC application deadline

The medical training institution has set August 11, 2026, as the deadline for submitting applications.

Prospective students have been advised to complete their applications before the closing date, as the college has not indicated whether the application period will be extended.

Applicants are also encouraged to confirm programme requirements before submitting their applications.

KUCCPS transfer window also open

The KMTC announcement comes as KUCCPS continues accepting applications for the 2026 inter-institutional transfer window.

The placement agency has allowed students from the 2023, 2024 and 2025 KCSE cohorts who meet the required cut-off points to apply for transfers to different universities or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

The KUCCPS transfer application window will remain open until August 14, 2026.

Students urged to beware of scams

The reopening of higher education application portals has also prompted renewed warnings over online fraud targeting prospective students.

Education authorities have previously cautioned applicants against relying on unofficial social media pages or individuals claiming to offer admission assistance for a fee.

Students have been advised to submit applications only through the official KUCCPS and KMTC portals and verify any admission information through authorised government channels.
