German Embassy opens opportunities for Kenyan professionals in top German firms

Date:

The German Embassy in Nairobi has announced the opening of applications for the 15th intake of the AFRIKA KOMMT! Fellowship, a prestigious programme that places young African professionals in leading German companies for a one-year career and leadership development experience.

The 2026/2027 cohort will offer 35 fellowship positions across seven partner companies, with the application deadline set for March 22, 2026.

What the fellowship offers

The AFRIKA KOMMT! Fellowship, an initiative of German industry in partnership with the German government, provides selected candidates with hands-on work experience in Germany. Fellows are integrated into major German corporations where they gain practical exposure, develop leadership skills and build international networks.

Since its launch in 2008, the programme has created a strong alumni network of more than 380 professionals from 28 African countries. Overall, 417 African professionals have benefited from placements in 34 German companies across 31 countries.

In a public announcement, the German Embassy encouraged qualified professionals to seize the opportunity.

“Looking for your next career opportunity? The AFRIKA KOMMT! Fellowship offers young professionals hands-on experience in leading German companies plus leadership development. Apply by 22 March 2026,” the Embassy stated.

Who can apply?

The programme targets young, high-performing African professionals with leadership potential who are eager to expand their skills and gain international exposure. Applicants should demonstrate strong academic qualifications, relevant professional experience and a willingness to step out of their comfort zone.

Kenyan professionals are among those currently participating in the fellowship, working in sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity and technology.

How to Apply

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the official AFRIKA KOMMT! website, where detailed eligibility requirements and application guidelines are provided.

Applicants are advised to complete and submit their applications before the March 22, 2026 deadline. The organisers have also scheduled information sessions to guide prospective fellows through the application process and requirements.

The fellowship offers Kenyan professionals a unique chance to gain global experience, sharpen leadership skills and contribute to strengthening economic ties between Kenya and Germany.
