The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has announced 365 short-term employment opportunities for Kenyans who will monitor political party activities before, during and after the 2027 General Election.
The recruitment targets applicants for three categories of positions: County Monitors, Constituency Monitors and Call Centre Monitors.
The jobs will involve monitoring political parties and assessing their compliance with the Constitution, the Political Parties Act and the Code of Conduct for Political Parties during the election period.
Applications are open to qualified Kenyans, with the deadline set for 5pm on September 1, 2026.
Positions available
The ORPP is seeking to recruit 55 County Monitors under advertisement reference ORPP/3/2026.
Another 290 positions are available for Constituency Monitors under reference ORPP/4/2026.
The office is also recruiting 20 Call Centre Monitors under advertisement reference ORPP/5/2026.
The field-based positions will be deployed across different counties and constituencies, while Call Centre Monitors will work at the ORPP headquarters.
Applicants seeking County Monitor and Constituency Monitor positions must be residents of the county or constituency where they are applying to work.
What will the monitors do?
Successful candidates will be responsible for monitoring the activities and conduct of political parties during the different phases of the electoral cycle.
Their work will cover the period before the election, the election period itself and the post-election phase.
Among other responsibilities, the monitors will track political party activities and assess compliance with relevant laws, regulations and the Code of Conduct for Political Parties.
The positions are therefore expected to play a role in supporting the ORPP’s oversight responsibilities as Kenya prepares for the 2027 General Election.
Who can apply?
The ORPP has invited qualified Kenyans to apply for the advertised positions.
For County Monitor and Constituency Monitor positions, applicants must be residents of the specific county or constituency in which they are seeking employment.
Candidates are advised to carefully review the detailed job profiles and qualification requirements for their preferred position before submitting an application.
The ORPP has also encouraged applications from women, youth, marginalised communities and persons with disabilities in line with the constitutional principle of equal opportunity in public service.
How to apply for the ORPP jobs
Interested applicants should begin by visiting the official Office of the Registrar of Political Parties website and accessing the recruitment advertisement.
Applicants should review the full job description, qualifications and experience requirements for the position they wish to apply for.
After confirming that they meet the requirements, candidates should submit their applications through the ORPP Jobs e-recruitment portal.
Applicants should ensure that the information provided in the application is accurate and that all required documents are submitted before the deadline.
The application deadline is 5pm on September 1, 2026.
Candidates should avoid waiting until the final day to submit their applications in case they encounter technical problems with the online recruitment system.
Clearance certificates required
Candidates who are shortlisted will be required to obtain clearance certificates from several government and regulatory institutions.
These include the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Applicants who hold foreign university degrees may also be required to obtain authentication from the Commission for University Education (CUE).
The clearance requirements will apply to shortlisted candidates during the recruitment process rather than at the initial application stage, according to the recruitment information.
ORPP warns applicants against fraud
The ORPP has warned applicants against submitting forged certificates or providing false information during the recruitment process.
The office said presenting fraudulent documents or false information is a criminal offence and could lead to disqualification and further legal action.
Applicants have also been cautioned against canvassing or attempting to influence the recruitment process. Canvassing in any form will result in automatic disqualification.
The ORPP has further clarified that applicants should not pay anyone to secure the positions.
The office does not charge fees at any stage of the recruitment process, including submitting an application, attending interviews or processing an employment offer.
Why the jobs matter ahead of 2027
The recruitment comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 General Election.
The ORPP plays a key role in regulating and overseeing political parties in Kenya, including maintaining the political parties register and monitoring compliance with relevant legislation.
The election monitors will therefore be deployed at a time when political activity is expected to increase across the country.
For jobseekers interested in gaining experience in electoral administration, political party regulation and public-sector monitoring, the short-term positions offer an opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
Applicants are advised to rely on the official ORPP recruitment portal and advertisement for the complete qualifications and job descriptions and to submit their applications before the September 1 deadline.
