Kenya Power announces planned power interruptions for today, February 24, 2026

The Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions set for Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in several regions across the country.

The planned outages, which will run between morning and evening hours depending on the area, are part of routine maintenance and network upgrade works aimed at improving electricity reliability.

In a public notice, the utility company said the interruptions will affect parts of Nairobi, South Nyanza, Mt. Kenya and North Rift regions. Customers in the listed areas have been advised to plan accordingly.

Nairobi Region

In the Nairobi Region, the outage will affect Kahawa and surrounding areas from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The areas include Entire Kahawa Barracks, parts of Kenyatta University, Soweto, Congo and adjacent customers.

In Loresho, power will also be unavailable from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Vetlab, Loresho Ridge, parts of Kangemi Shopping Centre, Shinyaru, University of Nairobi, Kaptagat, Mukabi, Tego and nearby customers.

Meanwhile, in Mlolongo, the interruption will run from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., impacting Mlolongo Garages, AIC Kasina and adjacent areas.

South Nyanza Region

In Migori County, the outage will affect parts of Rongo, Kanga and Opapo from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas expected to experience interruptions include Rongo Town, Kanyawanga, Kanga, Rongo University, Nyarach, Opapo, Kameji, Maryland, Kodero Bara and surrounding customers.

The utility company indicated that other centres within South Nyanza will also be affected, including Ngecheck, Kampnyamisa, Lelboinet, Ngeria Girls, Koros Secondary School, Tegut, Kapng’etuny, Ndubenet, Belekenya and adjacent areas.

Mt. Kenya Region

In Embu County, power will be interrupted in Gikuuri, Ugweri and Ena areas from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The outage will affect St. Marks Ena Secondary School, Nthagaiya Girls, Nthagaiya Health Centre, Gatinda Primary School, Macumo, Ngeneri Market, St. Luke’s Academy, Kiangucu Coffee Factory, Kiringa Market, Kavangua Market, Kawanjara Market, Kivoo, Kathambai Primary School, Tenri Ena Hospital and neighbouring customers.

In Murang’a County, the interruption will affect Kihumbuini Market, Kihumbuini Dispensary and adjacent customers within Kihumbuini area from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

North Rift Region

In Uasin Gishu County, parts of Langas and Gitwe will experience outages from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., affecting Langas, Gitwe, Jijenge Quarry and nearby customers.

Additionally, the areas of Ngecheck and Ngeria will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Kenya Power has advised customers to treat all power lines as live during the interruption period and noted that electricity supply may be restored earlier than the indicated time if maintenance works are completed ahead of schedule.

The utility firm continues to undertake periodic maintenance and system upgrades to stabilise the national grid and improve service delivery across regions. Customers seeking clarification have been encouraged to contact Kenya Power through its official communication channels.
