Kenya Power has issued a notice of scheduled electricity interruptions set to affect multiple areas across the Mt. Kenya and Western regions on Friday, April 3, 2026.
The planned maintenance, which will run between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade the power network, improve reliability, and enhance service delivery to customers.
Areas Affected in Nyeri County
In Nyeri County, the outage will impact Gathugu and surrounding areas, including Gachuku Polytechnic, Kiamabara Secondary School, Kiamabara Dispensary, and Gathugu Market.
Other affected locations include Kagumo-Ini Coffee Factory, Kagumo-Ini Water Pump, Ruharu Village, Gathagana Village, Safaricom and Airtel booster sites, as well as nearby customers.
Kirinyaga County to Experience Daylong Outage
Parts of Kirinyaga County will also be without electricity during the scheduled maintenance.
The areas affected include Lainisha, Gathigiriri Prison, Budget area, Mwariko, MRM, NIB, King’ati, the Airstrip, DCC offices, Police Mwea, Mithuthiini, and Mwanki Residential areas.
Kenya Power noted that the interruption is necessary to facilitate essential works aimed at stabilizing the network and preventing unplanned outages in the future.
Western Region Also Affected
In the Western region, parts of Kakamega County will experience similar outages.
Areas set to be affected include Mukumu, Musoli, Khaega, Ilesi, Mukumu, Sigalagala, Musoli, Bukura College, Museno, Akatsa, Malinya, Busulwa, Shirere, Mpaka, and adjacent customers.
Advisory to Customers
Kenya Power has urged customers in the affected regions to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
The utility company also reminded the public to treat all electrical installations as live during the maintenance window to avoid accidents.
The scheduled maintenance is part of Kenya Power’s broader strategy to strengthen electricity distribution infrastructure and ensure consistent power supply across the country.
