Kenya Power has scheduled planned power maintenance in several parts of the country, affecting key areas in Nairobi, Kilifi, Nyeri, Nandi and Kisumu counties.
In a notice issued to customers, the utility company said the interruptions are part of routine maintenance works aimed at improving electricity reliability, upgrading infrastructure and ensuring stable power supply.
Nairobi County to face daytime outage
In Nairobi County, power will be interrupted along Kinanda Road and surrounding estates between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Areas expected to be affected include Kinanda Road, Kitsuru Road, Ngecha Road, Lakeview, Mitini, Ngecha Villa, ISK County Homes, Hotani Estate, Kitsuru Terraces and Kitsuru Horizons.
Mtwapa and Kilifi areas affected
In Kilifi County, outages will affect parts of Mtwapa including Mtwapa Sub-County Hospital, Aloo Drive, Moorings Hotel, Golden Key School, Mtomondoni Catholic Church and surrounding estates.
Additional areas such as Matsangoni, Mkangagani, Gede Forest and Kigingi will also experience interruptions within the same timeframe.
Nyeri region to undergo full-day maintenance
Parts of Nyeri County will experience a full-day outage from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected locations include Kigetuini Secondary School, Kangure Primary School, Gathukeini, Mitundu, Kingongi, Kabwe, Rwathing’a, Kaharo and nearby areas.
Nandi and Western areas to face short outage
In Nandi County, power will be interrupted between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Areas affected include Kaimosi, Chepkumia, Kiborgok, Yala, Kipsonoi, Kaimosi Tea Factory, Kaimosi Bible College, Sirwo and Tindinyo.
Kisumu areas also listed
In Kisumu County, areas around Onyinjo will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This includes Asol Dispensary, Asol Secondary School, Onyinjo Dispensary, Onyinjo Primary School, Lunga Market, Lunga Primary School, Ombo Primary School, Siala and Siala Dispensary.
Customers urged to plan ahead
Kenya Power has advised customers in all affected areas to plan their activities in advance and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
The company also reminded the public to treat all power lines as live at all times, even during scheduled maintenance.
