How teachers can apply for the 2026 World Teachers’ Day Awards

Date:

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened nominations for the 2026 World Teachers’ Day Awards, giving teachers an opportunity to receive national recognition for outstanding contributions to education.

The awards will recognise teachers and education leaders who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, innovation, leadership and impact in improving teaching and learning across Kenya.

Who can apply for the awards?

Teachers can nominate themselves for the 2026 awards. Members of the public and fellow teachers can also nominate educators whose work has made a significant difference in their schools and communities.

The awards will be held under the theme “Twawaenzi Walimu – Mashujaa Wetu”, meaning “We honour teachers – our heroes.”

The initiative is part of the annual World Teachers’ Day celebrations held on October 5 to recognise the contribution of teachers to society and national development.

How to apply for the 2026 TSC teachers’ awards

Teachers and members of the public can submit self or peer nominations through the TSC website.

Applicants should review the nomination requirements and provide the information requested by the Commission when submitting their nominations.

The official nomination guidelines and application details are available through the TSC website.

When is the deadline?

The deadline for submitting nominations is Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

TSC is encouraging teachers, colleagues and members of the public to nominate educators whose dedication, innovation and achievements deserve national recognition.

The awards will provide a platform to celebrate outstanding educators and highlight innovative approaches that are helping improve learning outcomes across the country.
