Kenya Power announces planned outages in Nairobi, Kirinyaga, Kericho and Uasin Gishu, today

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in several counties on Monday, May 4, 2026, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving power reliability.

The scheduled outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Kirinyaga, Kericho, and Uasin Gishu counties, with most areas expected to experience power cuts between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., while some locations in Kericho will have slightly adjusted hours.

Nairobi: Kingara Road Affected

In Nairobi, the outage will affect areas along Kingara Road and Kingara Close, including nearby customers.

Kenya Power said the interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Kirinyaga: Karaini and Old Kangaita

In Kirinyaga County, the outage will impact Karaini and Old Kangaita areas.

Affected locations include:
Karaini Market, Kamuruana Village, Mutuma Block, Rutui, Kangaita Kwa Eliud, Old Kangaita Market, Kangaita Primary School, Kangaita Tea Factory and surrounding areas.

The interruption will also run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Kericho: Parts of Litein Town

In Kericho County, the maintenance will affect parts of Litein Town, including:

Kapsenetwet, Chemoiben, Kabartegan, Kapminchiywet School, Botoni Village and areas near former PC Cheluget.

The outage in this region will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Uasin Gishu: Kamoret and Sambut

In Uasin Gishu County, customers in Kamoret and Sambut will also be affected.

Areas include Kamoret, Kamagut, Sambut, Sunrise and adjacent locations.

The power interruption will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.


Maintenance Aimed at Improving Reliability

Kenya Power said the planned outages are necessary to facilitate maintenance works on the electricity network, including system upgrades and repairs.

The utility advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
