Kenya Power announces scheduled outages across multiple regions on April 30

Kenya Power has issued a power maintenance notice outlining planned electricity interruptions across several counties on Thursday, April 30, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and maintain the national grid.

Nairobi, Kajiado and Kisumu Among Affected Areas

In Nairobi County, power will be interrupted in parts of Lang’ata and Donholm/Savannah areas between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Areas set to be affected include Galleria Mall, KWS Headquarters, Lang’ata Barracks, Carnivore area, and surrounding estates. In Donholm and Savannah, locations such as Total Energies Donholm, Greenfields, Sunrise, and parts of Phase 5 and 8 will experience outages.

In neighbouring Kajiado County, Rongai and its environs, including Magadi Road, Shell Petrol Station, Nairobi Women’s Hospital Rongai, and Maasai Mall, will also be without power during the same hours.

Meanwhile, in Kisumu County, parts of Chulaimbo including Chulaimbo and Masaba hospitals will experience a shorter outage from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Mt Kenya and North Eastern Regions Affected

In Nyeri County, areas around Kagumo High School, Kirichu Market, Ndurutu, and Gachika High School will face power interruptions from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kiambu County, parts of Runda including Runda Farm, Runda Mhasibu, and surrounding areas will also be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Coast Region to Experience Widespread Interruptions

The Coast region will see extensive outages across multiple counties. In Mombasa County, areas such as Kongowea, Bombolulu, Bandari Quarters, and Nyali-adjacent zones will be affected throughout the day.

Kwale County will experience outages in Mwachema, Tiwi Sokoni, Diani-adjacent areas, and Ngombeni, while in Tana River County, parts of Vibao Viwili and Hurara will be impacted.

In Taita Taveta County, the entire Taveta Town and Kirumbi areas will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Maintenance Aimed at Improving Reliability

Kenya Power stated that the planned interruptions are necessary to facilitate network maintenance, system upgrades, and connection of new customers to the grid.

The utility has advised customers in affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions, including switching off electrical appliances to avoid damage when power is restored.
