Kenya Power announces scheduled outages in multiple counties on March 23

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in several counties across the country today, Monday, March 23, 2026, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving power reliability.

The utility firm said the scheduled outages will affect parts of Kajiado, Bomet, Nyeri, and Laikipia counties, with most areas expected to experience power cuts between morning and evening hours.

Kajiado county

In Kajiado County, the outage will affect areas including Kimana, Ilasit, and Njukini from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Residents in Loitoktok Town, Amboseli, Ngong Narok, Ilasit, Entarara, Rombo, Njukini, Ilerai, Iltilal Ichalai, Imbirikani, Simba Cement, Mashuru, Emaroro and surrounding areas have been advised to plan accordingly.

Bomet county

In Bomet County, areas such as Kapset, Kapkilaibei, and Changoi will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The outage will affect locations including Kimari Tea Factory, Kapset Tea Factory, Tet Tea Factory, Chemalal Tea Factory, Kipsigis Multipurpose Tea Factory, Kapset Market, Kapkilaibei Market, Chebangang Market, Changoi Bungalows and nearby customers.

Nyeri county

In Nyeri County, the interruption will impact Wandumbi and Kamahoru areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Wandumbi Secondary School, Wandumbi Special School, Kamahoru and adjacent areas.

Laikipia county

In Laikipia County, residents in Ngobit and Withare will experience power outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The blackout will affect Ngobit Market, Withare, Kahuruko, Kona Mbaya, Oltaveta, Kiambiriria, Sirima and surrounding areas.

Kenya Power said the planned maintenance is necessary to facilitate network upgrades and improve service delivery, urging customers in the affected areas to take necessary precautions during the outage period.
