Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in several parts of the country on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, as part of ongoing system maintenance aimed at improving reliability and service delivery.
The planned outages will affect areas in Nairobi, Nyeri and West Pokot counties between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Nairobi Areas to Be Affected
In Nairobi, several estates and commercial zones will experience power cuts from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected areas include parts of Spring Valley, covering Chiara Road and sections of Kirawa Road. In Westlands, the outage will impact Muguga Green, Safaricom Headquarters, Rivaan Centre, Pentagon Gardens and Boha Street.
South C residents will also be affected, including parts of Muhoho Avenue, Mama Ngina Children’s Home, Rubis, Ole Shapara Avenue, Reliance Hospital, KEWI, Al Jazeera, Uchumi Road, Parkview Estate, Heshima Estate, Five Star Estate, Olive Road, Kawi Complex Road, Midland Court, Halai Estate, Ruby Estate, Memon Estate and Akiba Estate.
In Njiru, the outage will affect the whole of Njiru town, Chokaa and parts of Shujaa.
Nyeri County Interruptions
In Nyeri County, outages will begin earlier at 8:00 a.m. in some areas.
Locations affected include Le Pristine Hotel, Kirimara, Kirimara Coffee Factory, Kanuna Water Project, Kanuna Village and Lower Kirichu.
Additional areas such as Gatiko and Ngaini will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting locations including Ratko, Kwa Mukurino, Gain, Kirimukuyu and Ithiegeni Village.
West Pokot County Areas
In West Pokot County, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Lokichar, Kodich and Losam.
Areas expected to be affected include Orolwo, Timale, Nakwijit, Karameri, Konyao, Kodera, Ngotut, Kasei, Natimeri, Kiwawa, Chelopoy and Alale.
Purpose of the Maintenance
Kenya Power said the scheduled interruptions are necessary to allow technicians to carry out system upgrades and routine maintenance aimed at improving efficiency and reducing unplanned outages.
Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and treat all electrical installations as live during the maintenance period.
