Kenya Power lists areas set for Wednesday outages across multiple counties

Date:

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in several parts of the country on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving power reliability.

The utility firm said the planned outages will run between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in different regions, affecting households, businesses and public institutions.

Nairobi and Kajiado counties

In Nairobi, parts of Parklands will be affected, including Parklands Road, Sivachi Road, The Crescent and surrounding areas.

Sections of Ruai will also experience outages from 8:00 a.m., including Quickmart, Ruai Family Hospital, Kamulu, Stage 26 and Ngundu.

In neighbouring Kajiado County, power will be interrupted in Lower Matasia and Ngong Hills areas, affecting centres such as Oleteyani, Ilimashin, Kisamis, Nkoro and Matasia.

Rift Valley and Western Kenya

In Nakuru County, the Maai Mahiu area will be affected throughout the day. Key locations include Mai Mahiu Town, Old Kijabe, Longonot, Naivasha-bound facilities and nearby trading centres.

Kakamega County will also face outages in Musaga and Malava Market areas, including West Kenya Sugar, Kambi Mwanza, Shianda and surrounding villages.

In Vihiga’s neighbouring Kisumu County, Kibigori Market and Chepsweta Market areas will be affected during the scheduled maintenance period.

Nyanza region

Migori County will experience power interruptions in several areas, including Obama, Kokuro Secondary School, Gamba, Nyatambe, Ondome and Siruti.

Kenya Power said the maintenance works are necessary to stabilise the network and improve service delivery in the region.

Mt Kenya and Central region

In Nyeri County, outages will affect Kiamabara and Mukangu areas, covering markets, schools, coffee factories, dispensaries and nearby villages such as Gatina, Konyu, Kagumo-ini and Gaturiri.

Kiambu County will also be affected, with planned interruptions in Kagwe, Kamburu and Gatamaiyu areas, including Kagwe Tea Factory, Nyanduma Market and surrounding centres.

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period.

The company noted that electricity supply may be restored earlier than scheduled once the works are completed.
