The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has cautioned Kenyans against relying on unofficial sources for information about its services, warning that fake notices and impersonation scams are increasingly targeting motorists and other road users.
In a public advisory issued on Wednesday, the Authority urged members of the public to verify all information through its official communication platforms before making payments or sharing personal details.
NTSA urges use of verified channels
The Authority said all enquiries relating to its services should be made through verified communication channels, including its official website, social media pages, customer care contacts and designated email addresses.
According to NTSA, relying on unofficial sources exposes members of the public to misinformation and fraudulent schemes operated by individuals impersonating government agencies.
The Authority emphasized that official announcements are only issued through its recognised platforms.
Official contacts for key services
To help the public obtain accurate information, NTSA released a list of official contacts for its various services.
Motor vehicle inspection enquiries should be directed to the Authority’s dedicated inspection email, while matters involving vehicle registration, ownership transfers, number plate applications and registration services should be handled through the official vehicle registration support channel.
The Authority also said enquiries relating to vehicle licensing, Smart Driving Licences, driving licence updates, Public Service Vehicle (PSV) badges, PSV SACCO matters and Road Service Licence (RSL) or Transport Service Licence (TSL) services should be submitted through the designated licensing support email.
For driving school licensing, Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) applications, driver test bookings, driving test results and licence class endorsements, NTSA directed members of the public to use its official driver services support channel.
General enquiries, complaints and integrity-related reports should also be submitted through the Authority’s official communication channels.
Customer care support available
NTSA said members of the public can also seek assistance through its customer care telephone lines or by visiting any NTSA office across the country.
The Authority further encouraged Kenyans to access services through NTSA Help Desks located at Huduma Centres nationwide for in-person assistance.
Beware of fake messages
The Authority warned that fraudsters have increasingly been circulating fake notices, impersonating government officials and advertising non-existent transport services online.
According to NTSA, genuine service notifications are only sent through its verified SMS sender identities, and any suspicious messages should be treated with caution.
The Authority also urged Kenyans to verify information through its official website and verified social media accounts before responding to any communication claiming to originate from NTSA.
Public urged to stay vigilant
NTSA said the advisory forms part of its ongoing efforts to combat misinformation and protect the public from digital fraud.
The Authority urged motorists and all road users to confirm the authenticity of information relating to vehicle registration, inspections, licensing and other transport services through official communication channels before making payments or disclosing personal information.
Officials noted that relying on verified sources remains the most effective way for Kenyans to access accurate information and legitimate support for all NTSA services.
