United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyaga has officially been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to contest the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election slated for July 16, 2026.
The clearance marked the official start of his journey to Parliament, with hundreds of supporters turning up to escort him in what allies described as a strong show of confidence and unity behind his candidacy.
Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, who has been vocal in support of the UDA candidate, said the large turnout reflected growing public belief in Muchina’s leadership and development agenda for the constituency.
“Today was not just about clearance by IEBC. It was a declaration by the people of Ol Kalou that they are ready for fresh leadership focused on solutions and service delivery,” said Itumbi.
Education Agenda Takes Centre Stage
Muchina, who previously served as a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) manager, has built part of his campaign around education and youth empowerment.

According to Itumbi, the candidate’s experience managing bursary programs gives him firsthand understanding of the challenges many families face in accessing quality education.
“Samuel Muchina Nyaga understands the pain of parents struggling with school fees because he has worked closely with families through the bursary system. He knows where the gaps are and how to fix them,” Itumbi stated.
At the centre of Muchina’s campaign is a promise to introduce free day secondary school education for learners across Ol Kalou Constituency if elected.
The proposal, which has already generated debate within local political circles, is expected to become one of the defining issues of the by-election race.
UDA Signals Early Campaign Momentum
UDA supporters accompanying Muchina through Ol Kalou town chanted party slogans and waved placards as leaders called for unity ahead of the highly anticipated contest.
Itumbi described the campaign as a people-driven movement that had already gained momentum weeks before the polls.
“This is no longer an ordinary campaign. A movement powered by wananchi has started the sprint to July 16. The energy on the ground speaks for itself,” he said.
Political observers are closely watching the Ol Kalou by-election, which is expected to attract intense competition from major political parties seeking to strengthen their influence in Nyandarua County ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Focus Shifts to Campaign Trail
With the IEBC clearance process now complete, Muchina and his campaign team are expected to intensify grassroots mobilization, economic forums and voter outreach activities across the constituency.
Itumbi maintained that the UDA candidate’s campaign would focus heavily on education, youth opportunities and practical development programs.
“Leadership is about solving real problems for ordinary people. That is the message Samuel Muchina Nyaga is taking to every corner of Ol Kalou,” he added.
