Kenya Power announces scheduled power interruptions in seveeral counties today

Kenya Power has issued a scheduled power interruption notice affecting several areas across Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Nyeri and Embu counties today, Friday, May 22, 2026.

The utility company said the planned outages are part of routine maintenance and network improvement works.

Nairobi County

Parts of Nairobi West – Matumbatu Road, Upper Hill

Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

Areas to be affected include Matumbatu Road, Matumbato Flats, Canaan Apartments, KWFT, Regent Valuers and adjacent customers.

Uasin Gishu County

Ndupeneti, Ngeria Water, Ngara Falls

Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

The interruption will affect Ngecheck, Kampnyamisa, Lelboinet, Ngeria Girls, Koros Secondary School, Tegut, Kapngetuny, Ndupenet, Belkenya and nearby customers.

Trans Nzoia County

Aturukan, Kibot Primary

Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

Areas expected to experience outages include Aturukan Hotel, Mt. Elgon Dairies, Sinendet Centre, Kibomet Primary School, Bishop Yego, Sirwo Resort, Mwaita Primary School, Tuigoin Centre, Kiptenden, Kuriot, Parkera, Murgoiyo and surrounding areas.

Nyeri County

Gatumbiro, Kirurumi

Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

The outage will affect Gatumbiro Market and TBC, Gatumbiro Boosters, Huhoini Market and schools, Kiahiti, TEAWASCO, Gaithuri, Gatawa TBC, Wagatu TBC, Kirurumi Dispensary, Gathathini School and adjacent customers.

Embu County

Muthatari, Itabua, NTSA Area

Time: 8.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

Affected areas include Nthokis, Kimangaru, Karurina, Ithangawe, Mugoya Police Station, Njakairi, Muthatari, Tenri Hospital, NCPB, Prisons, Jumbo Nut, Privam Nuts, Vieznina, Iveche, Kamiu, Embu NTSA and nearby customers.

Kenya Power has advised affected customers to plan accordingly during the maintenance period.
