Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday led a Jubilee Party delegates meeting in Kiambu County as the party intensified efforts to reorganise its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The repeat delegates meeting brought together party officials, aspirants and grassroots leaders in what Jubilee described as part of a broader strategy to strengthen party unity and rebuild its political networks across the country.
Uhuru takes charge of party deliberations
Uhuru’s attendance at the meeting had earlier been confirmed by Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i, who said the former Head of State would guide discussions and future party plans during the gathering.
Speaking at the meeting, Matiang’i praised local party officials for organising the event and hinted at another major delegates conference scheduled for next week.
“We announced this meeting last week on Friday, and I want to thank our chairperson in Kiambu for the work he has done in preparing the event,” Matiang’i said.
“I would like, after this meeting, to have a brief meeting with all the aspirants. In consultation with the party leader, we have agreed that we shall have another meeting of this kind here next week to announce the deliberations we were to announce today,” he added.
Jubilee shifts focus to 2027 preparations
The Kiambu meeting is part of Jubilee’s ongoing nationwide engagements aimed at reviving its grassroots structures and positioning the party ahead of the next election cycle.
Party leaders indicated that the consultations are focused on strengthening internal unity, mobilising supporters and reorganising leadership structures at the county and constituency levels.
The renewed political activity also signals Jubilee’s efforts to remain influential in the opposition landscape as political alignments begin taking shape ahead of 2027.
Youth and women central to Jubilee strategy
The party has increasingly emphasized the inclusion of young people and women in leadership and decision-making positions as part of its long-term political strategy.
Jubilee officials believe empowering younger leaders and expanding women representation within the party could help rebuild its support base and improve its future electoral prospects.
The Kiambu delegates meeting comes amid heightened political activity across the country as parties begin early preparations, alliances and grassroots mobilisation campaigns ahead of the next General Election.
