Kenya Power has scheduled electricity maintenance works in several parts of the country on Thursday, June 25, 2026, resulting in planned power interruptions across six counties.
The utility company said the outages are necessary to facilitate routine maintenance and network upgrades aimed at improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply.
The affected counties include Uasin Gishu, Kisii, Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru and Kwale, with most areas expected to experience outages between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
North Rift region
In Uasin Gishu County, customers in the Oasis and Kimuri areas will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Areas expected to be affected include Neema School, Blossom, Oasis Bible College, Royalton, Nandi Gaa, Kimuri and neighbouring customers.
South Nyanza region
In Kisii County, the outage will affect the Etono and Nyakoiba areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Residents and businesses in Igorera, Etono, Omobera, Kerongorori, Randani, Nyakoiba, Ibencho, Nyansara, Openda, Eburi, Nyamasege, Kiagware, Nyaimera, Nyansakia, Kona Yonduko and surrounding areas are expected to experience power interruptions.
Mt Kenya region
In Laikipia County, maintenance works will affect Matanya and Solio between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The outage will impact Thome, Thome Boys Secondary School, Tigithi, Matanya, Weruini, Male and the Solio V1 to V7 areas.
Meanwhile, in Nyeri County, customers in Kidalive and Maragima Police areas will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The interruption will affect Kid Alive, Maragima Police, Mathari and nearby customers.
In Meru County, power will be interrupted in Mikinduri Market, Kiguchwa Market and Ametho from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Among the areas listed for maintenance are Antuamarita Primary School, Ngatu Primary School, Gachuuru Market, Kiarau, St. Lucy Kirigwa Church, Anjuki Factory, Mikinduri Common, Mikinduri Girls, St. Benedict Primary School, St. Stephen Primary School and Church, Uriiro Primary School, Kamarima Primary School, Amugaa, Karurune, Kaliene Secondary School and several neighbouring trading centres.
Coast region
In Kwale County, customers in Mienzeni, Gandini and Bofu will experience electricity interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The affected areas include Mienzeni, Katundani, Gandini, Ndzovuni, Bofu, Mtaa and surrounding customers.
Kenya Power advises customers
Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly during the maintenance period and treat all power lines as live at all times, as electricity may be restored earlier than the scheduled completion time.
The company regularly carries out planned maintenance to upgrade infrastructure, connect new customers and improve service reliability across the national grid.
