Kenya Power schedules electricity outages in five counties on Tuesday 7

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in five counties on Tuesday, July 7, as the utility company undertakes routine maintenance on its power distribution network.

In a public notice issued on Monday, the company said the planned outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Kisii, Nyeri, Kwale and Kilifi counties, with electricity supply expected to be interrupted for between seven and eight hours depending on the location.

The maintenance exercise is part of Kenya Power’s ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply.

Nairobi among areas affected

In Nairobi County, the outage will affect parts of Lang’ata between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Areas listed for the planned interruption include sections of Lang’ata Road, Panda Mart, Galleria Mall, Muiri Lane, MAC Frys, KWS Club, Lang’ata Crematorium, KWS Headquarters and Lang’ata Barracks.

Other affected customers include Camp David Lang’ata, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Jambo Estate, Shree Cutch Samaj, Cale Infrastructure, EPCO, Tamarind, Trident Park, Carnivore Restaurant, Gulf Energy, Daisy Park, Oyster Mews, Westpark, Phenom Park, Phenom Estate, Serene Gardens, Dorothy Park and neighbouring premises.

Kisii and Nyeri to experience daytime outages

In Kisii County, electricity will be interrupted in parts of Suneka from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include sections of Suneka Market, Rubis Petrol Station, Ekerorano, Sugunana and surrounding customers.

Meanwhile, Nyeri County will experience outages in two separate zones during the same period.

The first area covers Endarasha, Kanyagia and Charity, affecting Uaso Nyiro, Mairo, Kinyaiti, Hill Side, Kabati, Isaaco, Sangare, Mahiga, Endarasha Secondary School, Charity, Kimunyuru, Nganoini, Embaringo, Watuka and nearby customers.

The second outage will affect Karima, Gura and Muthinga, including Karima Mission, Gatugi Coffee Factory, Gatugi Water Supply, Mbari ya Ngai, Giathenge Market, Gathera Market, Agakui, Gura Thuthi Research Centre, Gura Water Project, Gathaithi Water Pump, Father Nyamu Secondary School, Kiagi and neighbouring areas.

Coastal counties also affected

In Kwale County, customers in Mshiu, Mrima and Lunga Lunga will experience power interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The scheduled outage will affect Mshiu, Mwangwei, Majoreni, Mrima, Lunga Lunga, Vanga, Horohoro, Mwangulu and adjacent customers.

In Kilifi County, electricity will be interrupted in parts of Watamu from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas listed include Temple Point, Kaanan, Jiwe Jeupe, Dongo Kundu, Watamu Village, Lonho Lodge, Jacaranda, Plot 5 to Plot 40, Kika, Kobe, Watamu Hospital, Watamu Police Station, Peponi, Liedl, Dongo Kundu Primary School, Turtle Bay and surrounding customers.

Kenya Power advises customers to plan ahead

Kenya Power urged customers in the affected areas to plan ahead and make the necessary arrangements during the maintenance period.

The company explained that the scheduled works are necessary to facilitate network maintenance and improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply across the affected regions.

Power is expected to be restored immediately after the completion of the maintenance works, although restoration times may vary depending on the progress of the exercise.
