#DAY BREAK: Here is what’s trending online today

Date:

Jamhuri Day Celebrations

Kenyans are marking Jamhuri Day today, December 12, 2025, with the main national event held at Nyayo National Stadium. The National Police Service has announced major road closures and traffic diversions in Nairobi to facilitate the event’s security and traffic management.

KJSEA Results and Education

The Ministry of Education released the 2025 KJSEA results, showing that girls generally outshone boys in the pioneer Grade 9 exams. The new competency-based assessment system emphasizes performance levels rather than traditional marks, and placement of students into senior schools will begin immediately.

Environmental Activism

Climate activist Truphena Muthoni completed a 72-hour tree-hugging challenge, setting a new Guinness World Record, and there are calls for the government to honor her during the Jamhuri Day fete.
