Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi has finally been charged with alleged assault and malicious damage to property, after an anticipatory bail offered him temporary relief, at least for a month.
The legislator is said to have physically assaulted and caused bodily harm to one, Enock Moriasi at a November 27, 2025 incident at Java House in Kisii town, which was captured by CCTV cameras.
Kibagendi also allegedly damaged aSh230, 000 iPhone Pro Max and Sh20, 000 worth of restaurant properties.
Appearing before Narok Senior Resident Magistrate Esther Mwikali, the MP pleaded not guilty to the charges and was subsequently released on Sh200, 000 bond or Sh100, 000 cash bail, after the court found no compelling reasons to deny him bail or bond.
An anticipatory bail, secured last month from the Kisii High Court, had provisionally shielded him from arrest as investigations continued.
He was picked up by detectives in Nairobi and detained overnight at Keroka Police Station before being transferred to Narok for plea taking.
The case has sparked mixed reactions from political leaders and constituents especially over the MP’s arrest and treatment.
