Kenya Power planned interruption – Monday, January 26, 2026

Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption affecting several regions across the country on Monday, January 26, 2026, to facilitate routine network maintenance and system upgrades.

In the Nairobi Region, parts of Nairobi County will experience a power outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The affected areas include South B Shopping Centre, Sanasana, Capital Centre, Police Band, Zanzibar Road, Golden Gate Kenya, Mass Communication, and adjacent customers.

In the Mt. Kenya Region, parts of Nyeri County will be affected during the same period. Areas scheduled for the interruption include Ihigaini, Munga’ria, Kaigonde, Kangubiri High School, Gititu, Nyaithere, Ithe-Kahuno, Karo, Maingiraino, Thageini, Kiaraho, Gathungo, Giacheru, and surrounding areas.

Also in the Mt. Kenya Region, parts of Murang’a County will be without power from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected areas include Chomo, Kahunyo, Wanduhi, Kigoro Ka Chief, Njunu Tea Factory, Mwea, Gatunguru, Giteme, Kanunga, Kigoro Water Treatment, Nduka Moja, Gitururu, Kungu Maitui, Ndakaini Water, Ndakaini Market, Kimandi Market, Wanyaga, Nduti Tea Factory, Kiangari, Kimotho Ndiara, and adjacent customers.

In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Kisii County will also be affected. The outage will impact Kiaruta Centre, Kiaruta Dispensary, Riabanaba, Ekeore Secondary School, and neighboring areas between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Kenya Power said the planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability, enhance safety, and reduce unplanned outages. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements during the interruption period.
