During the UDA National Governing Council held at State House, Nairobi today, President Ruto outlined his key achievements saying the transformation agenda was firmly on track adding that he is ready to face his opponents on the ballot.

He said he had revived  some 6000 kilometers of road network that had stalled after contractors abandoned work because of nonpayment of dues. President Ruto said roads and infrastructure remains a crucial component in moving Kenya to the first-world, saying all stalled road projects had been revived and contractors are now back on the sites.

“When we came to office, most contractors had left the sites today, all the contractors are back, they are on site; they are working and I want to confirm to you that we raised Ksh175 billion, we are raising another Ksh120 billion to make sure that all our contractors are on site until we complete the 6000 kilometer of roads going on in Kenya today,” he pointed out.

According to him, construction of new roads and expansion of existing ones like the dualling of the 175KM  Rironi-Mau Summit remains key to pushing the country to the first-world.

“We have been faithful to the implementation of the agenda upon which the people of Kenya had voted for this administration and we are ready to face our competitors with our score card and ask them what they can do better than what we have done,” he said.

“Professor (DP Kindiki) has explained to us very well the implementation of our manifesto, you know some people are pushing lies and propaganda in the social media but we are here today to show them our scorecard and it clearly shows that we are delivering the promises we made to Kenyans according to our manifesto,” President Ruto said.

“The economy is now strong and we continue pushing agriculture. We have 8 million bags of fertilizer for the long rains; farmers can start planting,” he stated.

He said 10.1 million bags of fertilizer were used last year with the same projected to rise to 12.5 million this year adding that 3 million bags of fertilizer were already at NCPB stores pointing out that 3 million more bags had already left the Port in Mombasa

Noting that the price for sexed semen had reduced from Ksh8000 to Ksh1400, by half, President Ruto said that Kenya was now among the top milk producing countries in Africa.

“And that is why Kenya has moved from producing 4.6 billion litres of milk to 5.2 billion liters of milk, Today, Kenya is the largest milk producer in Africa and that is a fact and it is because of the interventions we have done in that sector,” he affirmed.

He added that the challenges that the education sector faced including some 21 public universities that were on the brink of collapse had been resolved, assuring Kenyans that the Competency Based Education (CBE) was also firmly on track.

“We have sorted out the problems that were there and they are now on sound footing, ask any vice-chancellor, ask any principal of a TVET institution; that transformation is going on,” he assured.

He said that the shortage of tutors now belongs to the past after the hiring of the largest number of teachers since independence in the last three years.

“We had a big problem with Mau Mau Road and that is the big quarrel Wa Muchomba had with me but we are 50,60 70 percent complete,” President Ruto said.

He was referring to Githunguri MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba, a vocal ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, one of the notable figures at the UDA meeting at State House. She declared her support for President Ruto’s second term bid saying all the roads were nearing completion.

DP Kindiki echoed his sentiments, saying: “As you are aware, we have started dualling Rironi-Mau Summit, no new taxes and no debt. The President has announced that for us to go to the next level, we need to build new roads.”
